Every case study here answers one question: measurable outcome.

IP Intelligence Data: Customer-Requested Initiative
AlphaTeam: Data + Infra + Web6 months
TL;DR
Launched an alpha version of a feature customers had been requesting for a while, one every competitor already offered, to test real demand and data readiness before committing to a full build.
Outcome
- ↑Closed deals, with the alpha data available as proof of momentum
- ↑Alpha tester enrollment, after the landing page and recruitment iteration
- ↑Organic discovery: widget to landing page to scheduler, no outreach needed
Saw It
- Customers had been asking for this feature for a while, and every competitor already had it.
- The data was fully validated, but the open question was whether the format was ready for real customers.
↓→
Figured It Out
- Analyzed customer calls directly to confirm the need was real, not assumed, and ran competitor landscape analysis.
- Decided to ship fast as an alpha rather than wait to perfect it, accepting the risk to avoid losing more competitive ground.
↓→
Did It
- Owned the landing page concept, partnering with web engineering on the build.
- Led alpha recruitment strategy, iterating based on direct customer feedback after early recruitment stalled at 2 testers.
My Role
- Owned the landing page concept, partnering with web engineering on the build.
- Led alpha recruitment strategy, iterating based on direct customer complaints and feedback.
- Analyzed call data with customers to validate whether the need was real.
- Ran competitor landscape analysis to confirm what competitors already had in this space.
Engineering Collaboration
- Partnered with web engineering to ship the landing page.
- Engineering built the first working prototype of the data product.
Full breakdown
Problem & Risk
Value RiskFeasibility RiskBusiness Viability Risk
- Customers had been asking for this feature for a while, and every competitor already had it.
- The underlying data was fully validated, but the open question was whether the format was ready for real customers, even though it wasn't yet production-ready.
- Shipping something imperfect fast, versus waiting to perfect it and risking more competitive ground.
Customer Discovery & Validation
Evidence
- Validated the data was good, though not yet recommended for production use.
- All customer validation during this period happened at the alpha stage.
- Analyzed customer calls directly to confirm whether the need was real, not assumed.
- Ran competitor landscape analysis to confirm what competitors already offered in this space.
Context
- Started in November, following directly on from the Internal Initiative work.
- Launched quickly as an alpha, but engineering hit a blocker early: without real customer usage, there wasn't enough signal on what the product actually needed to provision correctly.
- Customer testing became a prerequisite for engineering to move forward, not just a validation step.

Who Benefits
- Sales closed deals faster, using the alpha as tangible proof the product was coming.
- Customers got early access to the data they'd been asking for, well before a full release.
Next Steps
- Create the final data payload based on remaining alpha tester feedback.
- Move from alpha into private beta.
